Human

Medium Human Humanoid

The most numerous and widespread of all ancestries, Humans are the adaptable, ambitious, and often chaotic heart of the Core Worlds, the driving force behind the vast and fractious Riadian Coalition.

Humans are the undisputed center of the known galaxy, a status they have achieved not through overwhelming strength or intellect, but through sheer, unrelenting adaptability. They are a species of contrasts: brilliant innovators and stubborn traditionalists, selfless heroes and shrewd opportunists, unifying diplomats and expansionist conquerors. Their society, the Riadian Coalition, is a reflection of their own nature—a sprawling, chaotic, and powerful union of countless different worlds and cultures, held together by a shared belief in progress and mutual defense. As the “default” species in the Core Worlds, humans can be found in every profession and on every world, their short but vibrant lives a constant engine of change in the galactic landscape.

If you want to play a character who is endlessly adaptable, fiercely ambitious, and a natural team player, you should play a Human.

You Might…
  • Come from the bustling, cosmopolitan ecumenopolis of Riadus, a rugged frontier colony, or a specialized deep-space habitat.
  • Take immense pride in your people’s role as galactic leaders, or feel burdened and shamed by their reputation for expansionism.
  • Effortlessly bridge the cultural divides between more rigid ancestries, using your innate flexibility to find common ground.
Other’s Probably…
  • Assume you represent the “default” viewpoint of the Coalition and expect you to be a jack-of-all-trades.
  • Be wary of your species’ relentless ambition and political maneuvering, viewing your friendliness with a hint of suspicion.
  • Find your short lifespans and rapidly changing cultures to be dizzying, unreliable, and a sign of a species that lacks conviction.

Physical Description

Humans’ physical characteristics vary based on their lineage and homeworld. Humans have a wide variety of skin and hair colors, body types, and facial features.

Humans reach physical adulthood around the age of 15, though mental maturity occurs a few years later. A typical human can live to be around 90 years old.

Society

Human society is embodied by the Riadian Coalition, a massive federal republic with Riadus as its capital. The Coalition is a union of dozens of semi-autonomous member territories, each with its own local government and customs, all bound by a common constitution and a powerful Federal Fleet. Human society is a constant, churning engine of competing ideas—fierce individualism clashes with the need for community, democratic ideals are tested by the influence of powerful megacorporations, and a pioneering spirit pushes them ever outward into the unknown.

Names

Human names are incredibly diverse, drawing from the thousands of cultures that have risen and fallen throughout their history on Riadus and beyond. They have no single naming convention, reflecting their adaptable and multicultural society.

Example Names Anya Petrova, Javier “Javi” Garcia, Kenji Tanaka, Li Wei, Commander Thorne, Fatima al-Fassi

Beliefs

Humans have no single unifying belief system; their philosophies are as varied as their physical forms. Many place their faith in the democratic ideals of the Riadian Coalition itself, viewing it as the best hope for a peaceful galaxy. Others are driven by a more pragmatic corporate materialism or a belief in scientific humanism. Ancient faiths from Riadus still exist, their doctrines re-contextualized for an interstellar age, while those on the frontier often adopt a stark, survivalist creed. A Human can be found holding nearly any belief, or none at all.

Popular Edicts Forge alliances and build strong communities. Strive to leave your unique mark on the galaxy, for good or ill. Adapt to new situations and learn from the customs of others.

Popular Anathema Betray the trust of your community, crew, or chosen allies. Pass up a significant opportunity for advancement or discovery out of fear or complacency. Stubbornly refuse to compromise when a peaceful solution is possible.
